Heinrich Aufforth married Sophie Hedwig Hagen. They were the parents of Beke Magarethe Auffarth born 1823. Beke Auffarth married Otto Christian Steuer. They were the parents of Anna Sophie Steuer who married J. Berend Petermann. Sophie and Berend Petermann immigrated to the United States circa 1883, settling in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Heinrich Auffarth lived in Hohenboken, Ganderkesee. The records for Hohenboken appear to be in Ganderkesee.

The Ganderkesee records, as filmed by LDS, are some of the worst looking records I have ever seen on microfilm. I looks like the records themselves may be legible but the filming is terrible. There are white spots on many pages making them impossible to read. Other pages are so out of focus that there is nothing legible on them. Still others are so overexposed they are useless. I would say that half the pages of the baptisms from 1817 to 1853 are illegible. In addition, the pages are in erratic order.

I normally would go to the original records for my research but these microfilms are so bad I have relied heavily on the IGI - much of which is from LDS member submissions.

There were several families of Aufforth in Ganderkesee in the 1818 to 1853 records indicating that the family had been in the area for several generations.

      Bremen German Seamen Register: 7 crossings between 1863 and 1872 including to North America, Galveston, New York (4 times) and the West Indies There is a note with the date 14.6.1905 but I cannot read it. Two of the sailings were on the Main, 1870 & 1872. The Main was one of the ships that burned in the Hoboken fire in 1900.
