Teamsters

Before the automobile goods and produce were moved over land by horse drawn wagons. The wagon drivers, called teamsters, worked long hours for low wages.

The drivers either owned thier own horses or drove a team owned by someone else.

Henry Blanck, born in Hoboken in 1882, was listed as a: truck driver (1905), driver (1906), truck driver (1915). He later worked for Eppin Smith and co, a wholesale tea and coffee company. Truck was a word applied to some wagons before the invention of the gas driven motor. The word was still used as such as late as 1919 as noted from a Studebaker ad from that year. See Henry Blanck

Louis Blanck, born in Hoboken in 1887, was listed as a : driver (1907), teamster (1907), driver (1909), and a wagon driver for moving van (1910). See Louie Blanck
