Our Hamrogue family had cousins here, one set in Johnstown, NY and a related branch in Philadelphia, Pa. The Johnstown family according to my notes were descended from a Michael Hamrogue and Bridget O'Malley

My grandfather was John Hamrogue from Seefin, parish of Crossboyne, and my grandmother was Delia Slattery from Purrauns parish of Kilcommon and Robeen.

Crossboyne is north east of Ballinrobe, just south of Claremorris.

Kilcommon Parish is just west of Ballinrobe. Robeen Parish is just north west of Ballinrobe.

A lot of the same families in Mayo seem to have immigrated over to the US and settled in the same area here. I am transcribing catholic records for the American Canadian Genealogy Society which I have been doing for abt 3 years. We preserve the books and are able to find information on our families. They are out of Manchester NH and they concentrate on that area but we concentrate on upstate NY and have done a good number of books. I am working on St Joseph's in Greenwich NY and the families I have seen all interelated or just from same area in Mayo. Our Hamrogue family actually became Pemrick in the United States, supposedly the English translation of it. The other families that were godparents, witnesses at weddings and related. Sheridan, Walsh, Connolly, Hughes, Millett, Mc Hugh, Cunningham, Maloy, Hennelly, Stanton, O'Malley, Kileen. The parishes I have looked at have been Crossboyne and Kilcommon/Robeen which were where my grandparents were from. They are right near Ballinrobe.
