Edward Anderson was the son of Patrick Anderson and Bridget Mc Hugh of
Labasheeda, Co. Clare, Ireland.
Patrick Anderson and Bridget McHugh
Note: Their names are from the marriage license of Edward Anderson and
from Bridget Anderson's immigration.
Birth of Patrick Anderson: Circa 1848 (1901 Irish Census)
Patrick Anderson was from King's Co. - now known as Co. Offaly.
(Annemarie Smith Greene, December 2007)
Birth of Bridget Mc Hugh: Circa 1858 (1901 Irish Census)
Marriage:
Residence: Labasheeda, Co. Clare Ireland.
Labasheeda (Leaba Sh’oda) is a village in the parish of Killofin, barony of Clonderalaw, Co.
Clare, Munster. LDS does not list records.
Occupation: Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC). Joined in 1869 at age 22
(Annemarie Smith Greene, December 2007)
"I received Patrick Anderson's full RIC record. He and
Bridget McHugh were married May 5, 1877 - it doesn't state where, but I'm assuming Mayo.
He was assigned to the RIC in Mayo April 17, 1870 and then transferred to Clare on Oct 1,
1877. He retired on Feb 1, 1901. The record also suggests that his
father might have been an RIC member as well. The RIC had a height requirement of
5'9, and only sons of RIC members were admitted if they fell below this requirement.
(Patrick was 5'7 3/4 inches)"Annemarie Green, January 2008

Additional Information from Annemaried Green:
I also recently made contact with a girl in Co. Clare, Ireland
ho is indirectly related to the Culligan side of my family. She mentioned that John Anderson (the only one I know for sure stayed in Ireland) was married and had at least 1 son. She said that John Anderson was her grandmother's teacher in either Labasheeda or Lakyle, and that her grandfather was friendly with him as well. He later moved away from Labasheeda
and the families lost touch.
Addidtional Comments From Annemarie Smith Greene
My mother did not know of Jane, Alice or Annie Anderson. John was a teacher in Ireland, and came once for a visit before WWII. She remembers meeting him and Aunt Bea making a big fuss about his visit.
Aunt Rebecca was not married while living in the US, but rumored to have left a husband in Ireland.....
Aunt Bea was Veroncia McGuire Kennedy's mother. Veronica is currently over 80 years old and lives in Rockaway, NY. I don't know about any of Veronica's siblings.
