Smithtown, Long Island

Smithtown, on the shores of the beautiful Nissequogue River, is a settlement that dates back to 1653. It includes in its varied historical background, the site where once stood the home of "Widow Blydenburgh" mentioned in Washington's diary as one of the places he visited in 1790. Located forty-eight miles from New York City, Smithtown offers three public beaches, boating, and good sport fishing
