Notice the stove in the corner behind the older man. This was a typical stove for heating the home. Notice also the bed behind the curtains. Rooms had multiple uses and the bed room was more like a bed closet off a room that had a more generla use, like a sitting room.

FREDRICK WILLIAM I AND THE SALZBURG IMMIGRANTS

In November of 1731 the Catholic Archbishop of Salzburg ordered the expulsion of more than 20,000 Protestant from the archbishopric. It was the largest religious deportation in modern European history. They wandered around for some months until they were invited by Fredrick William I of Prussia to settle on his lands in East Prussia which at the time were relatively underpopulated.
